Bhubaneswar, Nirapakhya Khabar August 13, 2026: The Interscience Institute of Management and Technology (IIMT), Bhubaneswar, organised an insightful expert talk on “AI-Powered Research Tools, Techniques and Best Practices” on Thursday, providing students, researchers and faculty members with valuable insights into the rapidly evolving role of Artificial Intelligence in academic research and innovation.
The expert session was delivered by Dr. Nilanjan Dey, Senior Member, IEEE, Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Techno International New Town, Kolkata, and Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Reading, UK. The programme was presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Srikanta Patnaik, Chairman, IIMT Bhubaneswar.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Prof. (Dr.) Jayadev Kar, Director, IIMT Bhubaneswar, who highlighted the growing importance of Artificial Intelligence in contemporary education, research and innovation. Prof. Soma Mitra, Assistant Professor and HOD, MBA Department, IIMT Bhubaneswar, introduced Dr. Nilanjan Dey to the gathering and briefed the participants about his academic and research contributions.
During the expert talk, Dr. Dey provided a practical and comprehensive overview of AI-powered research tools, emerging research methodologies and best practices for effective academic and scholarly work. He discussed the potential of AI to assist researchers, faculty members and students in areas including literature exploration, research ideation, academic writing, data analysis, knowledge discovery and research productivity.
The interactive session offered participants an opportunity to understand how AI-enabled tools can complement conventional research practices while promoting innovative and responsible approaches to academic work. Dr. Dey also emphasised the importance of using Artificial Intelligence effectively and responsibly in the research ecosystem.
